"I brag on our club all the time, but at the same time, I feel good about it because I have other people tell me about our team. I look at them and I've said this over the last two or three years, without a doubt, in all my years of baseball, the best attitude, the best chemistry I've ever seen on a team I've ever been on."
Team Philadelphia Phillies Report:
* "It's a team of stars," Rollins said. SS Jimmy Rollins, goggles pressed to his temple during a raucous series-clinching celebration, characterized what he believes has made the Phillies so successful.
"It's not, 'I'm better than you' kind of stars. It's as in, 'I'm good at what I do. You're good at what you do.'
Shane (Victorino) is a star center fielder. J.W. (Jayson Werth) is a star right fielder. There are no egos in what we do."
* "I never heard it, never saw it," Meals told a pool reporter from the Associated Press after watching the replay. "Utley Said"
Chase Utley took off like it was nothing. He gave no indication to us that it hit him. Whatever percent of the time, you're going to get a guy that's going to stop if it hits him. 2B Chase Utley just kept running. Utley hit a check-swing dribbler in front of home plate in the ninth inning Sunday night, and the ball grazed his thigh. But Utley didn't stop running toward first base, and plate umpire Jerry Meals never called the ball foul. Utley was safe at first base, and Jimmy Rollins moved to third. One batter later, Ryan Howard launched a sacrifice fly that scored Rollins with the go-ahead run in a 6-5 Phillies victory.
"It might've caught me. But nobody said anything, so I ran hard. I've been on the wrong end of that before."
* LHP J.C. Romero underwent surgery Oct. 7 to fix a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. According to GM Ruben Amaro Jr., there wasn't any damage to the ulnar collateral ligament. Thus, Romero's recovery time is expected to be closer to five months than 12, the typical recovery time from "Tommy John" surgery."It's not, 'I'm better than you' kind of stars. Romero has been sidelined since July 19. He made one appearance Sept. 28 after coming off the disabled list, but his arm didn't respond well. A visit with New York Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek revealed that he needed surgery. Altchek performed the procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
The Numbers:
* 6 - RBIs for Ryan Howard in the NL Division Series, tying him with Alex Rodriguez for the playoff lead.
